Response from PALS:
Dear Nick
I have been asked to provide you with the following response from the East Berkshire CCG Medicines Optimisation Team.
Thank you for your letter of enquiry regarding East Berkshire CCG Freestyle Libre policy.
The East Berkshire CCG plans for Freestyle Libre were published on the CCG's website in November 2018.
The local diabetes specialist service has worked closely with GP diabetes leads on a pathway, that meets with the NHS England document, "Flash Glucose Monitoring: National Arrangements for Funding of Relevant Diabetes Patients"
Patients will be reviewed for eligibility against the NHS E criteria via the local Type 1 diabetes commissioned service, ie Specialist diabetes consultants. GPs on receipt of the appropriate information confirming eligibility from the consultant will prescribe Freestyle sensors on FP10, initially for a 6 month trial. At the end of the trial period the specialist diabetes consultant will review the patient and confirm the need for on-going prescriptions. In terms of RED, AMBER, GREEN status - this falls under AMBER traffic light status - initiated by secondary care consultant. Patients will be asked to discuss FreeStyle Libre at their next routine specialist appointment.
